Kings Newton

Kings Newton is a small picturesque hamlet within the parish of Melbourne, roughly 8 miles South of Derbyshire. The village street of Kings Newton is lined with stone and timber-framed houses and was praised by Sir Nikolaus Pevser as one of the most attractive village streets in Derbyshire. The village is just under a mile away from Melbourne town centre which offers a range of facilities including Sainsbury's, pubs, restaurants, a local surgery, cafes and schools. The Melbourne infant school is for children aged 4-7 years which then leads on to Melbourne Junior school for children aged 7-11 years. The primary school feeds into Chellaston Academy Secondary School, as well as the option for nearby private education at Repton School, Foremark Preparatory School, Derby Grammar and Derby High School.

Derby City centre is a 20 minute drive away which provides a first class range of local amenities including a supermarket, a range of shops, restaurants, pubs, doctors and dentists. The village is also well-placed for commuting with the A50, A42/M42 and M1 motorways nearby, and airports including East Midlands, Castle Donington and Birmingham International.
